Start Your Own Blog Series

The most important step towards starting your blog should be your “Why?” Without this, you really don’t have a blog because you won’t have readers.

Readers can quite easily get a sense of whether your motives for writing a single blog post are sincere. More than this, if you don’t have a solid “Why”, you will never survive the not-so-exciting phases in building a successful blog.

There really isn’t a finite and overarching reason behind people starting what grows to become a successful blog, but everyone who does, has a solid reason behind why they do.

If you don’t want to wait on me and would like to jump straight into starting your blog, you can just head to How to Start Your Own Blog and have your own blog running long before you officially complete this course for only $3.95 a month (this is a discounted rate that you will receive only if you purchase your hosting via my link).

Here are some reasons I think everybody should start a blog. If you want to know my personal reasons for starting Deploying Your Money you can head on to Why I Became a Blogger.

1. Share Your Experiences & Expertise

When you are a blogger, the whole world is potentially your audience. You should not take it for granted that somebody may hugely benefit from your experiences and what you have learned from them. Far too many people think they need to be an expert to be a blogger; this could not be further from the truth. Take, for instance, I know of several Personal Finance bloggers who have not practiced for a single day a Financial Advisor, yet run successful Personal Finance blogs.

Although over the years I have become a Personal Finance expert of sorts through my personal experiences, reading books, studying financial & business success stories and practicing as a Financial Advisor for many years, I myself am Mechanical Engineer by training.

If I can do it, you can.

2. Build a Community

If you are passionate about what you are blogging about (and you should be) it is a good idea to start a community where this topic is discussed. We will look more into the topics you can blog about tomorrow.

Online communities are becoming quite a widespread concept in recent times and many people are learning a great deal from being a part of, and even running these kinds of communities. If you are passionate about what you blog about, there are bound to be a great number of people that are equally passionate to hear about this topic, however simple or complex it may be.

3. Document Your Growth

The best way to track and record your knowledge around a particular topic is to write it down. The best way to commit to goals, as you may have heard by now, is to write them down. The best way to remind yourself to follow up on something is to write it down.

Sometimes the best way to grow your knowledge base around a particular topic may be to blog about it. If already know a lot about a particular topic you may benefit from creating a timeline documenting how much you have grown with the passing of time.

4. Create a Legacy

If you’re anything like me, you get a major kick out of creating something, anything. It’s why I became a Mechanical Engineer, in particular, I wanted to create stuff.

More generally, not many of us really get to create a legacy in our lifetime. At our jobs, many of us plug into a system that predates our arrival and have to contribute to the business in a predefined way. This does not allow us to create a legacy in our places of work.

When you create a blog, you can create a legacy that can outlive you.

5. Financial Freedom

I need to be clear on this, a blog in and of itself, will not likely create for you, what meets my personal definition of, Financial Freedom. Read more about this in Types of Income PROPERLY Defined: Passive Income Redefined.

While blogging may not get you to TRUE Financial Freedom, I am thoroughly convinced that it is one of the best paths through which you can achieve TRUE Financial Freedom.

I will teach you more about this as we go through the rest of the series.

About Me

Personal Finance & Entrepreneurship

Mechanical Engineer,
turned Financial Advisor,
turned Personal Finance Blogger.

I learned early on in my career that it doesn’t matter how much money you make if you don’t know how to spend it and make it work for you.

Reading about personal finance, business and entrepreneurship became my passion. I knew that if I wanted to be successful, I would need to learn how to sell.

I quit my engineering to become a Financial Advisor, earning on commission only, to learn about money.

Here, I share what I have learned with you.
